Today marks 10 years since I got my hands on my favorite camera I’ve ever owned. This thing arrived on my doorstep back on Jan 15, 2016. Back when these things went for less than half of what they’re going for today 😵💫
I make it a point to take this camera with me at every new travel destination I go to. It’s been everywhere with me. From frequent trips to SF, Sac, DC, and obviously all over VA, to less traveled places like SoCal, Boston, NYC, Austin, Orlando, OBX, and Georgia with new destinations later this year. Hoping to take it international soon.
If I had to save one camera out of my collection, it would be this without a doubt with the 35mm Summicron that’s attached 90% of the time. This camera definitely holds a lot of sentimental value to me and I’d likely never sell it. It’s going to be a family heirloom passed down from generation to generation 😂 Sometimes I’m still like damn, I can’t believe I actually own this. It’s definitely a dream/endgame camera for me.
While i may not make the best images with this camera, I definitely have the most fun shooting with it. For whatever reason it is, besides it being film, shooting with a rangefinder just feels different. I don’t want to sound cliche and pretentious like a lot of Leica bros out there, but there really is something about shooting with one of these that makes you feel a certain way when shooting with it. I’ve shot more rolls with this camera than any other film camera I own.
This was a corny ass post, but here’s to 10 more years of shooting 😎
Here are some of my favorite photos made with my favorite camera. Some were taken earlier this month, and some taken 10 years ago with a lot in between.
